Building Inspector II Salary Range – $78,867.00 – $106,470.00
Plans Examiner / Building Inspector Salary Range – $83,796.00 -$113,125.00

About the City
Woodinville is a premier tourist destination with a population of about 14, 000 though the City is growing considerably. Located about 20 miles northeast of Seattle, Woodinville offers the benefits of a bustling urban area against the backdrop of the picturesque Sammamish River Valley. Woodinville is known for its tourism industries with over 120 wineries, breweries, and distilleries and many opportunities for outdoor activities.

It is a great place to work and we manage to do a lot with only about 50 employees, including planning, permitting, code enforcement, street/storm water maintenance, infrastructure construction and maintenance, parks, and general administrative services.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Building Inspector II
The purpose of this position is to enforce the minimum requirements to safeguard the public safety, health and welfare through affordability, structural strength, means of egress facilities, stability, sanitation, light and ventilation, energy conservation and safety to life and property from fire and other hazards attributed to the built environment, and to provide safety to firefighters and emergency responders during emergency operations. This position conducts advanced level inspections directly related to enforcement of protective codes, development regulations, and/or contract requirements, and issues appropriate notices or orders when work does not comply with codes.

A successful candidate will be able to communicate and collaborate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, have an eye for detail, and provide excellent customer service even in difficult situations.

Plans Examiner / Building Inspector
The purpose of this position is to perform residential and commercial building plan reviews and on-site field inspections of properties to ensure compliance with building, plumbing, mechanical and related city, state, and national construction codes, ordinances, regulations, and safety standards; to safeguard public health, safety, and general welfare. This position is also responsible for administrative functions relative to the documentation of plan reviews and inspections. Works independently with limited supervision.

A successful candidate will have the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers, the public, and contractors. Have excellent communication skills and be well organized. The position performs 50 percent of work in office (including electronic plan review, Fire Prevention enforcement assistance, reviewing site plans, and developing new programs to keep current with industry changes and to increase customer efficiencies, and 50 percent in the field.
