DSHS Employment Navigator (Temporary)
Washington State Department of Social and Health Services Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) is seeking an Employment Navigator to join their team at Western State Hospital (WSH)!

In this temporary role, you will be responsible for supporting the Workforce Administrator in the pursuit of excellence in the staffing and outreach activities, employee retention efforts, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives aligned with the person-centered culture of Western State Hospital (WSH), Gage & Civil Centers, Child Study and Treatment Center and DSHS mission to transform lives.

Some of what you’ll do:

  • Supervise Program Coordinators
  • Assign and inspect the work of staff and instructs staff.
  • Evaluate staff performance and provides ongoing feedback to help staff develop and enhance their skills
  • Initiates the progressive discipline process as needed to address staff performance issues in accordance with the agency’s corrective action policies and procedures
  • Collaborates with the assigned Center in the development and implementation of recruiting and talent acquisition tactics
  • Partners with the Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, and hiring managers to ensure a smooth interview process
  • Provides technical assistance and specialized consultation
  • Review job postings, coordinate and schedule interviews, greet interviewees, conduct reference checks, and initiate background checks
  • Conducts testing, initial screening of credentials, and preliminary interviews
  • Facilitates the flow of candidates through the recruitment process from scheduling interviews to bringing new employees on board
  • Responsible for creating a positive, person-centered experience for candidates and new employees
  • Maintains, analyzes, and updates the databases for hiring and recruitment activities; prepares complex comprehensive plans, summaries, and reports for the assigned center
  • Provides timely, accurate, and actionable data based on the information identified through daily monitoring and analyzing of activities. Conducts research and analyzes data to identify EDI & Workforce program needs
  • Participates in the development and analysis of an onboarding retention mentoring program
  • Supports mentorship for employees from day one to help drive employee retention.
  • Conducts “Stay” interviews with new employees on a regular basis to understand and communicate and consult on issues with leadership to better recognize what BHA can do to keep quality employees at BHA
  • Participates in EDI committees, employee engagement, and workgroups
  • Represents the organization at job fairs, recruiting events, and open houses.
  • Other duties as assigned

Who should apply?
Professionals with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Public Administration, Health Administration, or a related field.
AND
Three years of experience including planning, analysis, coordination, and consultation. Professional experience in related fields may be substituted year for year for education.
