Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is currently recruiting for a Security Systems Engineer. This position is responsible for the Integrated Security System’s (ISS) hardware operations and maintenance. This position’s primary responsibility is to manage physical servers, virtualized servers, storage arrays, support systems management tools, and equipment of the ISS to ensure safe, secure, reliable operations of the Water, Drainage & Wastewater, Solid Waste and Dam Safety infrastructure, as well as future expansion or change.About Seattle Public Utilities: Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is a Community Centered Utility whose mission is to foster healthy people, environment, and economy by partnering with our community to equitably manage water and waste resources for today and future generations. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Responsible for the oversight of the deployment, configuration, and operations of ISS Servers, Storage Arrays, and Brocade Switches to ensure stability and security of centralized and distributed physical and virtual serversCoordinate with other System Engineers, Network Engineers, and Network Security staff to ensure hardware standardization and network security policies are followedOversee quality check and quality assurance of ISS data, ensuring that calibration compliance meets benchmark requirementsManage configuration of vCenter Server and VMware client software Provide Technical backup to the Security System AdministratorProvide project management support for ISS capital project upgradesManage installation and licensing of Microsoft Server 2008-2019Serve as a 24/7 emergency on-call resource and support.Please note this job advertisement is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience managing windows server/storage systems such as, vCenter and VMware. Education: An Associate Degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology, or related field OR one (1) additional year of relevant experience.The ideal candidate should possess some or most of the following: Extensive knowledge of laptops, desktops, software, and computer applications related to ISS, Access Controls, and Video Management SystemsVMware professional certificationMCSE CertificationStrong network security and networking background.
