For decades, Redmond, Washington has been home to one of the most innovative companies in the world: Microsoft. And for the past few years, Microsoft has been undergoing a multi-year campus refresh project for their main campus, solidifying their presence in our beautiful community.
The Refresh project replaces 12 older office buildings with approximately 3 million square feet of office space within 17 new buildings. These new office buildings are designed and clustered into five distinctive villages. The design of the campus is both pedestrian and bicycle friendly and includes retail shops, restaurants, running and walking trails, sports facilities and open spaces. Once complete, Microsoft’s main campus will consist of 131 buildings with enough room to support its 47,000 existing employees and up to 8,000 more future employees.
That is why the Microsoft Senior Civil Engineeris a key role on our Planning Department’s Microsoft Refresh Team. You will provide senior-level project management and engineering experience as it relates to sustainable design, water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructures for the campus. NOTE: This is a Limited Duration position with full benefitsand an anticipated contract duration until December 31, 2023, with the possibility of the duration being extended, depending upon the project status. This position has a flexible/hybrid option, offering 2 days per week of remote/teleworking.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
If you are selected for this role, here are a few of your key responsibilities:
- Review of plans for compliance with regulations, design standards, development agreements, and system plan documents for water, wastewater, and stormwater
- Research technical issues and provide technical expertise to other city departments
- Support long-range utility infrastructure planning efforts, including functional plan updates, amendments, and alternatives analysis
- Manage updates to water, sewer, and stormwater system models as needed, including selecting and managing consultant teams and developing scope, schedule, and budget
- Field work including investigation, condition assessment, and in-field consultation during project construction
- Select and manage consultant teams and develop scope, schedule, and budget for technical issues that require consultant assistance
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Seven (7) years engineering experience which includes three years of project administration and management responsibilities.
- Or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certificates:
- Engineer-Senior requires a Professional Engineer’s License.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License and a driving record that meets city standards.
